Join an industry-leading automotive company specializing in metal stampings and assembly as an Automation Technician – Robotics and PLC Specialist. You will troubleshoot and perform root cause analysis on robotic assemblies, automated stamping lines, and transfer systems, supporting daily operations through critical maintenance tasks to ensure optimal performance.
Job Summary
• Program and Modify: Interpret, modify paths, and edit programs on various robotic systems.
• Troubleshoot and Repair: Conduct routine to complex troubleshooting for hardware and software, leveraging your knowledge of PLCs and robotics.
• Onsite Problem Solving: Address issues on automated robotic systems, press lines, and welding assemblies.
• Preventative Maintenance: Perform regular maintenance on electronic devices, robots, and welding equipment.
• Technical Support: Provide expert technical assistance to customers and skilled tradespeople.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate asset documentation and manage consumables.
• General Maintenance: Carry out basic maintenance tasks as required.
Job Requirements
• 3+yrs experience working as an automation technician/specialist in an industrial setting.
• Education: Diploma in Electronics Engineering Technology (Industrial Automation) or Electromechanical Engineering Technician (Robotics), or equivalent technical courses and experience.
• PLC Knowledge: Familiarity with Allen Bradley PLC and HMI programming software.
• Robotics Expertise: Basic knowledge of robotic language interfacing and programming.
• Technical Skills: Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and proficient use of handheld tools and measuring devices.
• Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Desirable Traits: Problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to maintenance and troubleshooting.
Working Conditions
• 40 - 60 hours per week as scheduled
• Day, afternoon, and weekend shifts
• Industrial workplace where PPE is required
• Exposure to dangerous mechanical equipment and loud noise
Preferred Experience
• Robotic Systems: Experience with Kawasaki, Kuka, and Motoman robots.
• PLC Software: Proficiency in Allen Bradley Software, including Studio 5000, FTView, and RSLogix 500.
• Weld Controllers: Familiarity with Medar, Bosch, Fronius, Miller and Lincoln weld controllers.
• Network Communication Protocols: Knowledge of Devicenet, Ethernet, and IOLink communications.
• Welding Techniques: Experience with resistance spot welding, projection welding, and robotic MIG welding.
