Job Title: Junior, Automation Technician
Job Summary
Work with Automation Technicians as a plant resource to assist with line improvements automation initiatives, and realignment of existing and new equipment to improve product flow. Work in conjunction with the Maintenance and Engineering departments.
Responsibility
- Work with automation technicians, set up and maintenance department to reduce costs by removing non-value-added material/movement from production lines.
- Assist automation technicians, program managers and project engineers at the APQP stage of a program start-up.
- Understand and execute assigned work efficiently to minimize machine downtime.
- Ensure automation projects are completed and continue to function efficiently and effectively.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area following 5S principles.
- Ensure all new /rebuild equipment complies with CSA, OSHA, and Electrical Safety Code requirements.
- Participate in PHSR requirements
- Participate in root cause analysis to identify and address failures.
- Perform scheduled backups of PLC and CNC programs.
Academic/Educational Requirements
- Enrolled or completed a program in electrical or mechanical technology.
- Electronics Technician/Technologist Certificate, or equivalent working experience considered an asset.
Required Skills/Experience
- Minimum requirement of one year in a manufacturing environment as an asset. Experience in CNC and robotic repair/programming.
- Understanding of electrical/electronic schematic diagrams, blueprints, and pneumatic/hydraulic systems.
- Ability to work independently and within a team-based environment.
- Knowledge of PLC programming including Allan Bradley, ControlLogix/RS Logix, Siemens S7, and Fanuc. Knowledge of robotic systems (ABB, Motoman, KUKA and Fanuc). Basic knowledge of computer networking, Ethernet connections, TCP/IP protocol. Experience with the use of statistical analysis software and AutoCAD.
- Continuous learning to maintain a current knowledge of policies, procedures, and industry standards. Required to learn through courses and on the job initiatives to further develop professional skills.
