Construction Project Controls Specialist / Lead



WB Melback Corporation is seeking motivated individuals to manages project cost, schedule, and performance data to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget. They will be responsible to create and maintain baselines, perform earned value management (EVM), analyze risks, and generate forecasting reports for stakeholders. They act as the "navigator" for project managers by providing data-driven insights to guide project decisions. 

 

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Cost Management and Control: Monitors project budgets, tracks actual costs against forecasted budgets, and manages cash flow. They perform cost analysis, including cost performance index (CPI) and schedule performance index (SPI), to identify overruns.
  • Change Management: Identifies, documents, and evaluates scope changes and trends, and works with the project team to develop and process change orders.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Prepares regular reports and dashboard, highlighting performance trends and potential risks.
  • Risk Management: Identifies potential risks, maintains risk registers, and conducts impact analysis to develop mitigation strategies.
  • Assist with procurement and contract administration, including reviewing and coding of supplier and subcontractor invoices.
  • Coordinate, compile, and ensure timely delivery of all invoice requirements.
  • Project Documentation and Audits: Ensures project data accuracy and compliance with owner standards and performs regular audits to compare actual data against estimates. 
  • Knowledge of Scheduling and the interrelationship with cost, progress and productivity is essential. The candidate will be required track progress against the baseline, identify schedule variances, and forecast completion dates.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Software Proficiency: Experience with reading such tools such as Primavera P6, MS Project, as well as advanced knowledge  of Excel.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong ability to analyze complex data sets, interpret metrics, and solve problems.
  • Communication: Effective interpersonal skills to liaise between project managers, engineers, and clients.
  • Construction Knowledge: Understanding of construction processes, contract management, and project management methodologies. 



Preferred Qualifications:

Professional certification

Experience with Medium to large scale construction projects.
