The Role:

Our team is looking for a Controls Engineer to have the opportunity to work in a team environment to continuously improve production equipment and processes utilizing the latest automation control technology such as Safety Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Ethernet communication networks, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), HMIs, Fanuc Robotics and Various Vision systems. You will help troubleshoot equipment issues and manage small to medium sized projects on a wide variety of equipment that progresses the organization to the next level of manufacturing effectiveness.

What You'll Do: (Responsibilities):

  • Enforces safe work practices as the highest priority
  • Responsible for controls engineering & electrical support
  • Provides technical support, direction, and training to support personnel/Skilled Trades within the organization.
  • Investigates systems and equipment problems and provides technical input in problem resolution.
  • Controls modifications and continuous improvement of production processes
  • Error Proofing (SEP, EPP, vision, bar code)
  • Technical troubleshooting and direction for production departments
  • Floor to upper-level systems integration
  • Planning Activities
  • Launch Activities
  • Maintenance Supervision (directing of hourly trades to perform work as necessary)

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):

  • 3+ years of Controls experience supporting manufacturing operations (not an entry level position)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science Engineering or equivalent work experience
  • Understanding of manufacturing and tooling processes
  • Ability to program & troubleshoot PLCs, particularly Rockwell/AB
  • Variable Frequency Drives, especially AB such as Powerflex
  • Read and interpret wiring diagrams.
  • Knowledge of automation/industrial networks (DeviceNet, Ethernet, etc.)
  • Machine control HMI's/ user interface (Siemens, Allen Bradley/Rockwell)
  • Experience in Vision systems, theory and strategy
  • Experience in error-proofing concepts and execution
  • Basic computer skills such as Microsoft Office & Teams
  • Flexibility to change quickly from one assignment to another as priorities change
  • Analytical ability and creativity to solve unusual and difficult problems
  • Interpersonal skills to work effectively with line workers, maintenance personnel, and all levels of management
  • Ability to work all shifts
  • Strong work ethic with self-initiative and ability to multi task
