Job Opportunity:

We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Designer to be responsible for carrying out duties of the Engineering department including design, research & engineering documentation. They must ensure the company design guidelines are adhered to and that all customer specifications pertaining to design are met. The Senior Mechanical Designer will utilize sound engineering fundamentals to design the mechanical portion of custom automation equipment.


What you’ll do:


  • Create and complete the mechanical design and detailing of fixtures, jigs, and smaller machines.

  • Create conceptual design of station or tooling as per project requirements.

  • Communicate project concerns, project status, and design solutions with management, fellow staff, and clients.

  • Create detail drawing packages and create BOM for purchasing.

  • Formulate and/or support budgets and write ups for quotations/feasibility.

  • Track & maintain project milestone dates to the overall plan.

  • Coordinate all stages of the project with various departments: engineering, electrical, controls, purchasing, assembly, and testing.

  • Review project designs internally with project manager, engineering manager/Team and final design review with customers.

  • Maintain professional relationship with customers that projects confidence in the company’s abilities and promotes ongoing business.

  • Occasional travel as required globally.


What you’ll need:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent specialized experience.
  • Professional Engineer is an asset.
  • Minimum 7 years previous work experience in this field.
  • Strong engineering & technical background.
  • Knowledge of automation, controls, and mechanical assembly.
  • Strong knowledge of pneumatic circuit planning and schematic preparation.
  • Strong working knowledge of Solidworks and MS Suite.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Strong customer presentation skills.
