Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following:

  • Design and test automation solutions on our shop floor.
  • Write and troubleshoot code for PLCs, HMIs, Industrial Robots, and Machine Vision. 
  • Travel to customer sites to commission and support our systems.
  • Perform robot simulation studies to validate reach and cycle-time constraints. 
  • Collaborate with customers to understand and follow design specifications. 
  • Integrate controls systems into production facilities by communicating with upstream and downstream equipment, and data management systems. 
  • Work with Safety Engineers to ensure safety standards are met. 
  • Monitor timelines and resources to keep projects on track and on budget. 
  • Prepare testing plans, design specifications, network diagrams, user manuals and other technical documents.
  • Represent the organization in a professional manner. 
  • Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

  • Strong computer skills and excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience with automation hardware and software. 
  • PLC (RSLogix 5/500/5000 and Studio 5000 - Logix Designer)
  • Siemens, Mitsubishi, and Omron an asset.
  • HMI (RS View Studio, FactoryTalk View Studio)
  • Ignition an asset. 
  • Vision Systems (Cognex, Keyence, IFM, Fanuc iRVision, Omron)
  • Industrial Robotics (Fanuc, ABB, Motoman)

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

  • A post-secondary engineering degree, diploma or equivalent, specializing in electrical, mechanical, or mechatronics. 
  • Three (3) to eight (8) years of relevant industry experience. 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS:

  • Must have a valid passport and driver's license.
